RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Ministry of Tourism has launched the 2026 Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN) in Jakarta. In a statement issued by the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia on Friday, 23 January 2026, KEN 2026 will feature 125 flagship events from 38 provinces across Indonesia to strengthen national tourism appeal while promoting more equitable economic impacts across regions.

Minister of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, said KEN is an important instrument in the development of inclusive and sustainable tourism. Through this program, she said, regional events are positioned not only as cultural celebrations, but also as drivers of tourism and local economic growth.

“Through Karisma Event Nusantara 2026, we encourage regional events to become drivers of tourism and the local economy, as well as showcases of Indonesia’s competitive cultural wealth,” Widiyanti said in Jakarta on Friday.

KEN 2026 presents a curated series of events featuring arts and culture, culinary experiences, music, and carnivals. The program is aimed at improving the quality of regional event organization, strengthening destination identity, and encouraging the movement of domestic and international tourists.

Meanwhile, Acting Deputy for Event Development at the Ministry of Tourism, Vinsensius Jemadu, said the number of selected events in KEN 2026 has increased compared to the previous year, which featured 110 events. According to him, the increase reflects improvements in the quality of regional event organization as well as the commitment of local governments to maximizing tourism benefits through nationally standardized events.

“With 125 selected events from 38 provinces, KEN 2026 underscores our commitment to ensuring quality remains a top priority, while delivering tangible economic impacts for communities and regional tourism stakeholders,” Vinsensius said.

He explained that events included in KEN 2026 have undergone a curation process based on key indicators, including ideas and innovation, marketing and communication strategies, event management, financial management, and impact analysis. The program also promotes synergy among the central government, regional governments, communities, and players in the tourism and creative economy industries.

Through KEN 2026, the Ministry of Tourism hopes that regional events will be better prepared to attract tourist visits, strengthen destination branding, and contribute to local economic growth. The program also aligns with efforts to reinforce the #DiIndonesiaAja campaign.
