RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Bali has once again captured global attention. The Island of the Gods has been named the world’s best travel destination, securing first place on TripAdvisor’s The Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best Destination List 2026. The achievement marks a new milestone for Indonesian tourism on the global stage.

Minister of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, welcomed the award with gratitude and appreciation for the trust shown by international travellers toward Bali. She said the recognition reflects Bali’s enduring appeal.

“Thank you for the reviews and ratings given to Bali through TripAdvisor. Bali’s selection as the world’s best travel destination shows that it remains a global tourism magnet,” Tourism Minister Widiyanti conveyed.

This top ranking is the highest position Bali has ever achieved in TripAdvisor’s history. For many years, Bali has consistently been listed among the world’s top 10 destinations, but this is the first time it has claimed the number one spot.

The awards are based on millions of traveller reviews and ratings from around the world collected throughout 2025. In this year’s list, Bali outperformed several iconic global destinations, including London, the 2024 winner as well as Dubai, Hanoi, Paris, and Rome.

In addition to being named the World’s Best Destination, Bali also received several other prestigious accolades. The island was crowned the Best Honeymoon Destination, ranked among the Top 10 Best Cultural Destinations, the Top 10 Best Solo Travel Destinations, and the Top 20 Trending Cities in the World.

The government hopes this achievement will serve as a catalyst for improving the quality of tourism services and strengthening the principles of sustainable tourism, not only in Bali but also across other regions of Indonesia.

“Going forward, we want to ensure that Bali continues to grow as a high-quality tourism destination that benefits local communities, preserves the environment, and inspires the world,” Minister Widiyanti conveyed.

Bali has long been known as a leading destination thanks to its combination of natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. Art, traditions, and religious ceremonies that are actively practiced and preserved by the local community provide a unique attraction for visitors.

More than just a holiday destination, Bali offers meaningful experiences. The harmony between nature, culture, and community life is what makes the Island of the Gods always longed for and repeatedly chosen by travellers from around the world.
