Mandalika Beach Offers Family-Friendly Sunset Charm in Lombok

RRI.CO.ID, Mataram - Indonesia’s Mandalika Beach in Central Lombok has become one of West Nusa Tenggara’s most recommended destinations for families seeking to enjoy the beauty of the sunset together.

Located in Kuta Village, Pujut Subdistrict, the beach is celebrated for its wide shoreline, distinctive pepper-like white sand, and clear blue waters that create a welcoming atmosphere as evening approaches.

Every afternoon, both tourists and locals gather along the coast to witness the sun dip into the horizon of the Indian Ocean. Around 5:50 p.m. local time, the golden light reflecting on the water provides a serene view and a perfect backdrop for family photos.

Lingga, a visitor spending time with relatives in Lombok, described the experience as ideal for family outings. “It’s best to come in the late afternoon. The area is spacious, comfortable, and safe for children to play in the water. On holidays, many families come here,” he said on Sunday, June 14, 2026.

Mandalika’s family-friendly appeal is enhanced by practical facilities. A large parking area located close to the beach makes access easier for parents with children or recreational gear.

The site also offers children’s rides such as dinosaur cars, electric bikes, and other games, ensuring younger visitors remain entertained while waiting for sunset.

Visitors can relax in traditional huts (saung) along the beach, enjoying the sea breeze while watching the sunset without crowding. The large “Mandalika” sign has also become a favorite photo spot, especially as the sky turns orange at dusk.

Entry to Mandalika Beach is free, with only parking fees charged--Rp5,000 (USD 0.28) for motorcycles and Rp10,000 (USD 0.55) for cars. Food stalls and restaurants around the beach add convenience, allowing visitors to enjoy meals and drinks without leaving the area.

“The atmosphere here suits everyone, from children to the elderly. You just choose the spot that feels comfortable and fits your budget,” Lingga added.
