RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar attended the launch of the AI Economic Impact Report titled "Building the Future: Shaping Indonesia's AI Era" at the Google and YouTube forum for AI and the Creative Economy. The event took place at the Thamrin Nine Ballroom, Jakarta, on Thursday, July 23, 2026.

In her remarks, Irene emphasized that artificial intelligence is not a substitute for human creativity, but rather a tool that strengthens creative abilities. She emphasized the importance of developing talent capable of managing data and producing globally competitive works so that Indonesia is not merely a technology user.

The report, compiled by Google and Public First, projects that the use of AI could contribute up to IDR 66 trillion, or approximately USD 3.68 billion, per year to Indonesia's creative economy sector. Furthermore, AI adoption is estimated to create 1.8 million new professional creators by 2035 and open up opportunities for creative content exports worth IDR 6.7 trillion, or approximately USD 374 million, per year.

To support these achievements, the Ministry of Creative Economy, in collaboration with Google, will launch a scholarship program called Creative Technology Future Talents. This online training program covers areas such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, project management, and cybersecurity to strengthen the capacity of Indonesian creators and technopreneurs.

Irene also highlighted the importance of AI development alongside the protection of creators' intellectual property rights. She stated that good data governance will help creative economy players formulate business strategies and sustainably expand export markets.

Meanwhile, Google's Vice President of Government Affairs & Public Policy, Markham Erickson, expressed his appreciation for Indonesia's immense potential, supported by its young demographic and high digital adoption rate. He emphasized Google's commitment to partnering with the Indonesian government in building an open, inclusive, and responsible AI ecosystem.

As a follow-up to the forum, registration for the CREATech Future Talents training program is officially open to the public through the link ekr.af/CREATech. The selected participants will be announced in August 2026 via registered email and the Ministry of Creative Economy's official social media channels.
