RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Dutch Game Association (DGA) lauds the Indonesian game developers. The DGA General Manager, Martine Spaans, made the statemen to RRI Voice of Indonesia in Jakarta, Friday, June 5, 2026.

Spaans, a game publisher, has been working with a studio from Medan, North Sumatra for more than 10 years. Based on her experiences, she considers Indonesia is not only having a lot of players, but also great talents.

"I've been working with a studio from Medan for more than 10 years, so I know that there's great developers here," she said amid the kick-off of the Dutch game exhibition titled "Clogs, Tulips and Video Games - Game Design from the Netherlands at Erasmus Huis, Jakarta.

The general manager of DGA further talked about more opportunities to work with Indonesian studios. The current collaboration was Horizon, one of the Netherlands's biggest game production, in which teams from Indonesia are giving contributions.

In addition, Spaans invited Indonesian game studios to partner more with Dutch developers for having uniqueness in creating games. She believed the Dutch developers can share inspiration and boost creativity of Indonesian developers.

However, the curator of Clogs, Tulips and Video Games exhibition, Arjan Terpstra, said the game developers from Indonesia might still be struggling with discoverability, just like the Netherlands and other countries. He, then, recommended to build community through social media and any platforms to build audience for the games.

"So, when your game is out, then the audience is already baked-in as it were," Arjan mentioned.

At the same occasion, Indonesian Creative Economy Ministry's Director of Games, Luat Sihombing, said not only the existing partnership, but the long story between Indonesia and the Netherlands also bring more relevance between the developers. "I think it creates more opportunity because having same understanding is easier to match each other," he said.

Therefore, he invited the Indonesian game association to the Dutch game exhibition. He said the two associations can seek for more partnership.
