RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia government along with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) is opening research collaboration opportunities for students to participate in the development of semiconductor and nanotechnology through internship and research programs.

According to a statement released by BRIN on June 2, 2026, the opportunities were introduced during a visit by students from Trisakti University’s Engineering Faculty to the laboratories of BRIN’s Research Center for Nanotechnology Systems (PRSN) at the BJ Habibie Science and Technology Area in Serpong on May 26.

Head of BRIN’s Research Center for Nanotechnology Systems, Murni Handayani, said the visit provided students with a closer look at research activities at BRIN while opening opportunities for collaboration between universities and research institutions.

“This visit is a valuable opportunity for students to learn more about research activities at PRSN and BRIN in general,” Murni said.

Meanwhile, BRIN researcher, Mohamad Insan Nugraha, outlined several pathways for student participation in research activities, including the Degree by Research (DBR) program for master’s and doctoral students, as well as final-project internship programs for undergraduate students. BRIN also offers opportunities for international researchers and students through its postdoctoral researcher and visiting researcher programs.

Insan explained that semiconductor research at BRIN covers the development of materials as well as semiconductor-based electronic devices. He noted that Indonesia has significant potential to advance its semiconductor industry and research capabilities due to the availability of raw materials such as silica sand.

“Indonesia actually has enormous potential because it possesses abundant raw materials, such as silica sand, but semiconductor research still needs further development,” he said.

BRIN hopes that more students will be encouraged to pursue studies in semiconductor technology and nanotechnology, helping strengthen research collaboration and human resource development in these strategic fields across Indonesia.
