President Prabowo Hands Over Six Rafale Jets and French Missiles to TNI

RI.CO.ID, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto handed over main weaponry system equipment of fighter jets, cargo planes, and radar to the Indonesian Military (TNI) at the Indonesian Air Force Base, Halim Perdanakusuma, Jakarta, Monday, May 18, 2026.
The received defense equipment includes 6 Rafale fighter jets equipped with Meteor missiles and Smart Weapon Hammer; 4 Falcon 8X jets; 1 A400M MRTT; and the GM403 GCI Radar.
The handover of the new TNI defense equipment was also attended by Indonesia’s Defense Minister, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Foreign Minister, Sugiono, Finance Minister, Purbaya, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, Air Force Chief of Staff, Air Marshal Tonny Harjono, and French delegation.

The Indonesian government, thru the Indonesia’s Ministry of Defense received and showcased six new Rafale fighter jets from France at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta. Thus, the TNI's defense equipment continues to increase, and this handover marks a milestone in the enhancement of Indonesia's national strength.
"So, yes, we officially received, according to our customs, the addition of defense equipment for our air force." We received six, fighter jets, the Rafale, and transport aircraft, the Falcon, VIP transport aircraft, and the A400. There are also radars," President Prabowo stated at the Indonesian Air Force Base, Halim Perdanakusuma, Jakarta, Monday.
Prabowo also mentioned the need to strengthen Indonesia's national defense. According to him, this military enhancement serves as a deterrent so that Indonesia can protect its own territory from various potential threats.
"So, brothers and sisters, I think this is just one of the milestones in strengthening our power." We must continue to expand our defense capabilities as a deterrent. "We have no interest other than to protect our own territory," he said.

A number of defense and security equipment are displayed on the runway. Among the rows of displayed equipment, the Rafale fighter jet is at the front line. In addition, four units of the Falcon 8X aircraft, one unit of the A400M MRTT aircraft, and the GM403 GCI Radar are also on display.
In addition, the government also received one A400M MRTT aircraft, which is projected to become an important element in reinforcing the TNI's strategic airlift capabilities. The aircraft also has the capability of air-to-air refueling, which allows for air operations with greater range and longer duration.
"We know that geopolitics is full of uncertainty and we know that defense is the main requirement for stability and the guaranty that we can be sovereign," Prabowo stated.
