RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia continues to strengthen digital system security in the national education sector through a collaborative approach and enhanced cyber resilience. The effort is reflected in the launch of the 2026 Bug Bounty Program on Monday, April 6, 2026, by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education through its Data and Information Technology Center.

Now in its fifth year, the program carries the theme “Build Cyber Resilience.” According to a press release issued by the ministry on Wednesday, Head of the Data and Information Technology Center, Wibowo Mukti, stated that the program is designed as a safe sandbox environment for participants to identify security vulnerabilities without affecting the ministry’s services.

“The Bug Bounty Program serves as a bridge for turning a passion for cybersecurity into meaningful achievements,” Wibowo Mukti said. The competition is open to a wide range of participants, including students aged 17 and above, university students, teachers, and lecturers, as part of efforts to engage more talent in addressing increasingly complex information security challenges.

Registration runs from April 6 to 30, 2026, followed by a testing phase from May 1 to 22. The evaluation process includes technical assessment, report quality, and interviews for finalists in each category.

The initiative is also aligned with the implementation of Information Security Management System regulations within Indonesia’s Electronic-Based Government System framework. Through Bug Bounty 2026, the government encourages members of the education community to move beyond being users and become part of the solution to cybersecurity challenges.

Amid rising global cyber threats, including ransomware and artificial intelligence-driven phishing attacks, the government views cross-sector collaboration as essential to building sustainable cyber resilience.
