RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government is pursuing a national industrialization policy. It is done by moving up from a raw materials exporter to a key partner in the global technology supply chain, particularly in the semiconductor and artificial intelligence sectors.

Vice Minister of Communication and Digital, Nezar Patria, delivered the statement during his opening speech at the "India-Indonesia Critical Minerals Investment Conference" at the Ritz-Carlton Ballroom, South Jakarta, Tuesday, 24 February 2026. According to him, Indonesia no longer wants to be on the sidelines of the semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) industry value chain.

"This is why this conference is so important. We don't just want to sell you materials, but also build a technology-based critical minerals framework," Nezar conveyed in an official statement received by RRI VOI, Wednesday, 25 February 2026.

The statement outlines the new direction of Indonesia's policy in building a strategic partnership with India, which is considered successful in accelerating the technology ecosystem through the Make in India initiative. Vice Minister Nezar expressed his admiration for India's technological developments, which he witnessed firsthand at the AI Impact Summit in India last week.

He highlighted the industrial transformation being undertaken through the Make in India initiative, including the Tata Group's move to build AI-based data centers and network innovations that bring supercomputing to the desktop. "India is not only participating in the future but is also building it," he said.

As a follow-up, the Indonesian government offered three main agendas for Indonesia-India collaboration. "First, building together in Indonesia through investment in mineral processing facilities to produce high-quality electronic materials,” he said.

Vice Minister Nezar also conveyed,”Second, investing in human resources, through knowledge transfer and developing semiconductor engineering talent. Third, building a supply chain resilience corridor by connecting Indonesian resources and Indian manufacturing to create a resilient and efficient supply chain," he said
