RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Ministry of Industry continues to strive to accelerate technological transformation in the industrial sector to enhance competitiveness and drive national economic growth. One of the technological transformations increasingly adopted or used by industry players is the utilization of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) for aerial surveys, mapping, data analysis, and even cargo or logistics.
"The utilization of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles through drones has now become an essential service, used by industries in the fields of agriculture, plantations, forestry, mining, energy production, and various other sectors that can optimize production and monitoring in the field." "This advanced technology can produce accurate mapping," said Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita in his statement in Jakarta, on Monday, 23 February 2026.
Drones are generally used in the field of mapping surveys that present spatial information. Mapping surveys with unmanned aerial vehicles essentially show area profiles, spatial capabilities, demographic conditions, potential areas, and various other needed information, which will be displayed online. Users can monitor their areas in more detail through aerial views.
Agus revealed that as industrial technology advances, more and more small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are providing unmanned aerial vehicle technology services. The Minister of Industry appreciates the capabilities of SMEs in unmanned aerial vehicle technology services, which have successfully become a bridge for industrial players, especially SMEs, to adopt advanced drone technology in their production processes.
This aligns with the efforts of the Directorate General of Small, Medium, and Miscellaneous Industries (IKMA), which consistently provides guidance to the UAV service SMEs, to continue developing competitiveness and market reach in utilizing this technology.
"There are 24 small and medium enterprises recorded engaged in drone technology services that we continue to support, both in terms of enhancing the company's internal capacity, as well as opening market access and product development," said the Director General of Small and Medium Industries at the Ministry of Industry, Reni Yanita.
On February 5-6, 2026, the Director General of IKMA visited several drone SMEs fostered by the Directorate General of IKMA in Yogyakarta. The companies include CV AMX UAV Technologies, PT Inderaja Teknik Indonesia, PT Karya Solusi Angkasa, PT Aerotek Global Inovasi, and PT Inovasi Solusi Transportasi Indonesia.
"The Ministry of Industry is accelerating this startup as a provider of technological solutions for industry and society. Their products, both drones and software, are ready for immediate implementation by industry players, including those still on a small and medium scale," said Reni.
The guidance provided by the Directorate General of Small and Medium Industries (Ditjen IKMA) through the Directorate of Metal, Machinery, Electronics, and Transportation Equipment for drone service SMEs includes the organization of Startup for Industry (Tech Link - Investment Summit and Mentoring) in 2023 - 2024; assistance with TKDN certification in 2024; and facilitation of SNI ISO 9001 in 2024.
Next, the MFI (Manufacturing Indonesia Series) exhibition in 2024; facilitation at the TechPlanter event with Leave a Nest Japan in 2024. In addition, drone SMEs are also facilitated in the IKMA Festival Exhibition in 2024; as well as participation in the China-BRICS Science and Innovation Incubation Park in 2025.
"With this coaching, drone SMEs are increasingly exposed to a broader industrial ecosystem, can network, and forge new collaboration potentials with industry players, educational institutions, and strategic partners relevant to the solutions developed by SMEs," Reni emphasized.
Director of IKM LMEAA Dini Hanggandari added that drone IKM, which received facilitation to participate in several exhibitions from the Ministry of Industry, also had the opportunity to interact directly with exhibition visitors to gather feedback, real industry needs, and opportunities for technology application in the manufacturing and IKM sectors.
Not only that, Dini continued, the participation of drone SMEs in MFI 2024 serves as a catalyst for strengthening business direction and product development, while also encouraging readiness to contribute more broadly within the industrial ecosystem and the SMEs fostered by the Ministry of Industry.
