RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Ministry of Communication and Digital Republic of Indonesia is processing access to the Grok service conditionally under strict supervision. This policy aligns with X Corp's written commitment regarding service improvement steps and compliance with applicable legal provisions in Indonesia.
Based on the press release received by RRI Voice of Indonesia on Sunday, 1 January 2026. The Director General of Digital Space Supervision at the Ministry of Communications and Digital, Alexander Sabar, affirmed that this normalization is not an unconditional easing, but rather part of digital law enforcement and can be evaluated at any time
Normalization of access to Grok services is conditional and will occur after X Corp submits a written commitment outlining concrete steps to improve services and prevent misuse. "This commitment is the basis for evaluation, not the end of the supervision process," Alexander said in Jakarta.
In an official letter addressed to the Minister of Communications and Digital, X Corp stated that it has implemented a series of layered mitigation measures regarding the misuse of the Grok service. These measures include strengthening technical protections, restricting access to certain features, refining internal policies and enforcement, and activating incident response protocols.
He emphasized that all steps claimed by X will be continuously verified and tested by the Ministry of Communications and Digital. This is aimed at ensuring their effectiveness in preventing violations, including the spread of illegal content and violations of child protection principles.
This normalization is accompanied by continuous monitoring and evaluation. If inconsistencies or continued violations are found during implementation, the Coordinating Ministry for Digital Affairs will not hesitate to take corrective action, including suspending service access again," he conveyed.
The Ministry of Communications and Digital recorded X Corp's commitment to continue working with the Indonesian government. This commitment includes fulfilling legal obligations as an Electronic System Operator (ESO) and maintaining a responsible digital ecosystem.
Constructive dialog remains open, but compliance with Indonesian law is an obligation. "Service normalization is not an endpoint, but rather part of an ongoing state oversight process," he said.
