RRI.CO.ID, Nagoya - Indonesian teqball athlete, Yoga Ardika Putra won the bronze medal in the men’s singles event at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. Competing at the Nagoya City Higashi Sports Center, Yoga secured a podium finish in teqball’s debut at the Asian Games.

Yoga said he was proud of the achievement after going through months of preparation and competition for the multi-sport event. He said the medal was the result of the hard work he and his team had put in during their preparations in Indonesia.

“I’m certainly happy to win a medal at the Asian Games. This is an extraordinary achievement. All the hard work we put in back in Indonesia has paid off here at the Asian Games,” Yoga said.

Yoga’s journey in teqball began with his childhood passion for football. Although he had no specific background in the sport, he followed his coach’s guidance and eventually took teqball seriously, finding similarities between the sport and football.

Outside the competition arena, Yoga is a 2023 student at Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ), majoring in Educational Management. He said his studies have also helped him as an athlete, particularly in analyzing his own strengths and weaknesses as well as those of his opponents.

He also dedicated the bronze medal to his family, who have consistently supported his career as an athlete. He hopes his achievement in Aichi-Nagoya will help introduce teqball to a wider audience in Indonesia.

Yoga also called for stronger support for the development of Indonesia’s teqball federation and athlete development programs. He said such support would be important for the continued growth of teqball in Indonesia.

“With this result, we have achieved our medal target. Going forward, I hope the teqball federation in Indonesia receives full support so that the sport can continue to develop. Of course, I will keep working hard and aim for a gold medal on another occasion,” he explained.
