RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian women’s basketball and volleyball teams will begin their 2026 Asian Games campaigns on Thursday, September 17, 2026, with matches in Aichi, Japan, as several Indonesian athletes also compete in teqball and modern pentathlon.
The women’s basketball team will face Thailand at Aichi International Arena at 11 a.m. Jakarta time, Antara reported.
Indonesia has brought 12 players for the 5x5 event: Agustin Gradita, Erinindita Madafa, Faizzatus Shoimah, Priscilla Karen, Kartika Hatta, Kimberley Pierre-Louis, Angelique Aritonang, Nicole Lukito, Lea Kahol, Yualita Rency, Nathania Orville and Ayu Sriartha.
Indonesia will then face China on Monday, September 21, at 5 p.m. Jakarta time.
The women’s volleyball team will also begin its campaign on Thursday against Nepal at 5:20 p.m. Jakarta time before facing hosts Japan on Friday, September 18, at the same time.
In teqball, Yoga Ardika Putra will compete in the men's singles event in Group B against Vietnam, Laos, the Republic of Korea, Japan and the Philippines. The event also includes quarterfinals and repechages depending on earlier results.
Husni Uba/La Ode Mardan M will compete in the men's doubles Group A against Thailand and the Philippines. Quarterfinals and repechages will also follow based on previous results.
In modern pentathlon, Caroline Andita Bangun and Nurfa Inayah Nurul Qalbi are listed in Semifinal A, while Sri Wahyuni will compete in Semifinal B in the obstacle, swimming and laser run events.
The 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya are held from September 19 to October 4, with Indonesia sending athletes across multiple sports. ***
