RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s men’s doubles pair Ali Faathir Rayhan/Devin Artha Wahyudi advanced to the round of 16 at the China Masters 2026 after Malaysia’s fifth seeds, Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin, retired from their match.
The contest lasted just 18 minutes before being halted on Court 3 of Shenzhen Arena, China, Tuesday, September 1, 2026. By then, Faathir/Devin had already secured the first game 21–16.
After the match, Devin explained that the withdrawal was due to Izzuddin suffering from a fever.
“On court we didn’t know why they stopped, since there was no sign of injury. Later I learned Izzuddin had been sick since last night. Rather than forcing it, withdrawing was probably the best decision,” he said.
Devin added that he and Faathir played cautiously in the opening game, capitalizing on their opponents’ tendency to lift the shuttle. “We tried to play safe and attack. Since they kept lifting the shuttle, it was easier for us to press,” he noted.
Faathir, meanwhile, said their target is to reach the quarterfinals, though he acknowledged the challenge of competing in their first Super 750 event. “Of course we want the best result, ideally the quarterfinals, but we’ll take it step by step.
