  • ONIC's semifinal exit ends Indonesia's title hopes at MSC 2026, but the team still has an opportunity to secure a podium finish in the Esports World Cup.
  • Kiboy credited Team Spirit's superior performance and said growing competition from other regions shows Mobile Legends esports is becoming more balanced beyond Southeast Asia.

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s ONIC Esports saw their bid for the Grand Final of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup (MSC) 2026 end in Paris after a 0–3 defeat to Team Spirit in the semifinal on Friday, July 31.

Despite entering the match with momentum from a comeback win over Turkey’s Aurora Gaming in the quarterfinals, ONIC struggled to impose their game against the disciplined and well‑coordinated Russian side.

Team Spirit controlled the tempo from the opening clash, leaving ONIC searching for answers throughout the series, Antara reported.

ONIC player Kiboy admitted the team was outmatched. “We lost simply because they were stronger. Team Spirit is really strong right now,” he said, acknowledging the growing competitiveness of the international scene.

He noted that Southeast Asia’s traditional dominance is now being challenged by emerging teams from other regions.

The setback means ONIC will contest the third‑place playoff against Falcons PH on Saturday, August 1. Kiboy expressed gratitude to supporters despite the disappointment. “Thank you for supporting us, and sorry for the result. We won’t stop here. We’ll keep fighting.”

While the Grand Final slips away, ONIC’s journey reflects both the rising parity in global esports and the determination of Indonesian teams to remain contenders on the world stage. ***
