Indonesia Wins Silver, Makes Esports History at 2026 Asian Games

RRI.CO.ID, Nagoya - Indonesia’s Pokémon Unite team made history by winning the silver medal at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games. The achievement marked Indonesia’s first medal in esports at the continent’s biggest sporting event.

Indonesia faced host nation Japan in the final at Aichi Sky Expo, Japan, on Sunday, September 27, 2026, local time.

Competing in a Best-of-5 (BO5) format, Indonesia, represented by Deni Ardiyanto, Marcello Hillers, Muhammad Haikal Irawan, Judha Raja Panggabean, and Novrizal Diananta, made an impressive start in the opening game.

Indonesia secured the first game to take a 1-0 lead over Japan. However, the host team responded with a more aggressive performance in front of its home crowd.

Japan then won the next three games in a row, leaving Indonesia to concede the match with a final score of 1-3.

The result secured the gold medal for Japan, while Indonesia took home the silver medal in the Pokémon Unite event.
