RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia’s national futsal squad is set to measure itself against European competition, with three friendly matches scheduled against Palma Futsal and Noia Futsal of Spain, as well as Braga Futsal of Portugal, during their overseas training camp from August 11–24, 2026.
The matches form part of a long-term program designed to prepare the team for the 2028 FIFA Futsal World Cup. Head of the National Futsal Team Agency Andri Paranoan emphasized that the camp is about building foundations rather than short-term results.
“The training camp in Spain is part of a long-term program, not just a temporary agenda. Every step we take today is designed to strengthen Indonesia’s preparation for the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2028,” he said on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
Under coach Hector Souto, the squad has already begun intensive training in Jakarta before departing for Spain. The camp is expected to sharpen tactical awareness, improve match readiness, and expose players to the pace and style of European futsal.
Beyond performance, the program also aims to increase player visibility, giving Indonesian talent the chance to attract attention from foreign clubs.
This initiative reflects Indonesia’s broader ambition to elevate its futsal program internationally. By facing established European teams, the Garuda squad hopes to gain valuable lessons, strengthen its competitive edge, and build confidence ahead of the global stage.
The friendlies highlight Indonesia’s focus on international exposure, long-term development, and World Cup preparation. ***
