RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Focused preparation paid off for Indonesia’s women’s singles shuttler Thalita Ramadhani Wiryawan, who delivered a confident performance at the Taipei Open 2026.

Thalita revealed she had undergone a month of solid preparation ahead of the tournament, stressing the importance of taking each match step by step.

“For the past month, my preparation has been quite good. My target is to stay focused one match at a time, not thinking too far ahead. What matters is giving my best in every game,” she said in a statement released by the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

Her disciplined approach translated into results as she stunned seventh seed Beiwen Zhang of the United States with a straight‑game victory, 21–17, 21–15, in the opening round at Taipei Arena.

Thalita credited her win to executing the pre‑planned strategy effectively.

“Today I just focused on carrying out the strategy we had prepared. Zhang Beiwen is a senior player--though not young anymore, her fighting spirit remains high, and her back‑court shots are still sharp. I really respect her,” she noted.

With the victory, Thalita moves on to the second round on Thursday, July 30, where she is scheduled to face India’s Thanvi Sharma. ***
