RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, attended the launch of the Garuda Finishers running community at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium in Jakarta on Sunday, July 26, 2026. His presence demonstrated the government's support for cross-sector collaboration that combines sports with the creative economy.

Garuda Finishers is a national running community first initiated by the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, in 2012. The community has now been relaunched with a renewed spirit to strengthen unity among running communities from various regions while promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Embracing the philosophy of never giving up, Garuda Finishers is expected to become a platform that embraces various elements of society and institutions through sport. "Garuda Finisher is here with the spirit of never giving up," Agus said.

Teuku Riefky stated that collaboration between the sports sector and the creative economy has tremendous potential for boosting the national economy. He believes this lifestyle-based approach and community involvement can stimulate various creative sectors, from apparel design to media and entertainment, while simultaneously creating new jobs.

He added that this public participation-based model urgently needs to be replicated in other cities in Indonesia. The development of running events in Indonesia is considered to show significant potential for strengthening the national sports industry and the creative economy as a whole.

The Minister emphasized the importance of hexahelix collaboration involving the government, communities, business actors, academics, media, and the public as the key to building a self-sufficient and competitive ecosystem. "Sporting events are not just physical competitions, but also a platform to unite all elements of the nation and a platform to showcase local creative products," he said.

The series of events at GBK (Golden Palace) began with a 5-kilometer run in the Car Free Day area, participated by approximately 600 runners from 48 running communities across Indonesia, from Aceh, Papua, South Kalimantan, and West Nusa Tenggara. The event was enlivened by a Fitness Truck, an interactive discussion with AHY, and an entertainment and culinary stage before closing with the official launch of Garuda Finishers.
