RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian women’s national team head coach Satoru Mochizuki stressed that his squad is far from satisfied despite successfully defending the AFF Women’s Cup 2026 title.
He underlined that Garuda Pertiwi will immediately begin preparations for the upcoming AFF Women’s Championship.
Mochizuki emphasized that retaining the crown is not the end of the journey for Indonesian women’s football. He urged his players to keep working hard to meet the challenges of the next competition.
Known affectionately as Mochi, the Japanese coach said thorough preparation is essential to ensure the team performs even better in future tournaments.
“We are not content with just this achievement. We want to prepare properly for next year’s AFF Women’s Championship,” Mochizuki stated in a statement released by the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
He added that the team’s journey throughout the tournament provided valuable experience for both players and coaches. In his view, every element of the squad continues to grow together through the competition process.
“I am very happy that we could be champions this time. We won because of the players’ hard work and the support of the officials,” said the 62‑year‑old coach.
Mochizuki also expressed appreciation to everyone who supported the Indonesian women’s national team. He hopes the public will continue to back Garuda Pertiwi’s development.
“I want to thank all those who have supported the team. This tournament allowed both players and coaches to grow together,” he noted.
The coach further called on the public to keep supporting the team in every battle ahead. “Please continue to support the Indonesian women’s national team,” he urged.
Indonesia secured the AFF Women’s Cup 2026 title after a commanding 5–0 victory over Laos in the final. The triumph marked Garuda Pertiwi’s second championship, following their success in the 2024 edition. (Diffa Sephiawardhani)
