RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian men's 3x3 basketball team will use the upcoming FIBA 3x3 Challenger Batam Stop 2026 as a crucial test to measure its progress ahead of the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, with players hoping the international event will reveal areas that still need improvement.
"It will be one way for us to prove how far our training has progressed," team player Halmaheranno Aprianto said during a visit by Indonesian Chef de Mission for the 2026 Asian Games in Jakarta on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
The national squad, which has been undergoing a three-week centralized training camp, is scheduled to travel to Batam to compete in the tournament on July 25-26, 2026.
Halmaheranno said the competition, which is open to teams from various countries, will provide valuable international exposure while allowing the Indonesian players to assess the effectiveness of their preparations. "After Batam, we will know what still needs to be improved and what aspects must be strengthened," he said.
The current training program focuses on physical conditioning, team tactics, shooting accuracy, and building stronger chemistry among the players. Each athlete is also encouraged to maximize individual strengths while compensating for physical and height differences against stronger opponents from other countries.
Halmaheranno acknowledged that Indonesia will face intense competition at the Asian Games, particularly against teams with superior physical attributes. To overcome that challenge, the team plans to study its opponents carefully while emphasizing a more cohesive playing style, greater agility, improved speed, and better endurance.
"We're preparing by becoming more solid as a team while continuing to improve our agility, speed, and physical endurance," he concluded. ***
