RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s hopes of adding more male finalists at the 2026 Asian U19 and U23 Boxing Championships came to an end on Monday, July 13, as Joshua Toni Marties Lahin and Viktor Wengkang bowed out in the semifinals at GBK Basket Hall, Jakarta.

Both fighters were unable to advance to the finals, according to Asian Boxing records. Joshua, competing in the U19 men’s lightweight (60kg) division, lost on points to Thailand’s Siwa Chainarong but secured a bronze medal for reaching the semifinals.

Viktor, fighting in the U19 men’s welterweight (65kg) division, was defeated by Kazakhstan’s Akzhurek Kalabay in a unanimous decision, with scores of 27–29, 27–30, 27–30, 27–30, and 27–29. His semifinal run also earned him a bronze medal, Indonesia’s fifth of the tournament.

Head coach Husni Ray praised his boxers’ efforts despite acknowledging the superior quality and international experience of their opponents.

“They gave their best, but the results speak for themselves. Our fighters lost on points, and their skills and experience are still below those of their opponents,” Husni said, as quoted by Antara.

The outcome means Indonesia will not have any male representatives in the finals, after M. Riko Prayogi also fell short in the semifinals earlier.

Indonesia still has two female boxers in contention for gold: Anggie Intania Chalik in the U19 women’s light flyweight (45–48kg) division and Dira Artika in the U19 women’s featherweight (57kg) division. ***
