RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia added three bronze medals to its tally at the 2026 U-23 Asian Boxing Championships, reflecting the country's continued progress in youth boxing while keeping hopes alive for more podium finishes in the U-19 competition.

The medals were confirmed after three Indonesian boxers were defeated in their U-23 semifinal bouts on the eighth day of competition at Gelora Bung Karno Basketball Hall in Senayan, Jakarta, on Sunday, July 12, 2026.

Linda Sarui Langi Maililin claimed bronze in the women's minimumweight (45-48 kg) division after losing 5-0 on points to Mongolia's Sodon-od Binderiya, Antara reported.

Maria Mesita Manguntu also settled for bronze in the women's light welterweight (65 kg) category following a unanimous 5-0 decision defeat to Uzbekistan's Sevinch Khurramova, with judges scoring the bout 30-27, 30-27, 30-27, 30-27, and 30-26.

In the men's cruiserweight (85 kg) division, Riko Prayogi secured bronze despite falling to Kazakhstan's Temirlan Mukatayev after the referee stopped the contest (RSC) in the second round.

Indonesia still has four boxers in contention at the Asian Boxing Championships, which are being held alongside the U-19 tournament.

The four Indonesian athletes scheduled to compete in the U-19 semifinals on Monday, July 13 include: Anggi Chalik in the women's light flyweight (45-48 kg), Dira Atika in the women's featherweight (57 kg), Joshua Toni Marties Lahin in the men's lightweight (60 kg), and Viktor Wengkang in the men's welterweight (65 kg).

Their performances will determine whether Indonesia can add more medals to its overall tally at the continental championships. ***
