RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian shuttler Fardhan Rainanda Joe capped his run at the 2026 Asian Junior Championships with a silver medal, underscoring his rise as the nation’s last singles contender despite a narrow defeat to China’s Hong Tian Yue in the final at Yatsushiro City General Gymnasium, Japan, on Sunday, June 5.
Fardhan fell 18–21, 19–21 in a tightly contested match, admitting that unforced errors and difficulty handling pressure at key moments proved costly.
“In the first game I made too many mistakes, and in the second I couldn’t control myself and hesitated,” he said in a PBSI statement released after the match.
Hong’s aggressive front‑court play disrupted Fardhan’s rhythm, particularly in crucial phases, Antara reported. “The opponent played fast at the net, and I struggled with his strategy. Moving forward, I need to control myself better and sharpen my technique,” Fardhan added.
Despite missing out on the title, the silver medal marked an important step forward. Fardhan had earlier beaten Malaysia’s eighth seed Kong Wei Xiang in the quarterfinals and China’s seventh seed Luo Yu Jing in a three‑game semifinal, improving on his bronze finish in 2025.
He expressed gratitude to his team and supporters: “Thank you to the team and the Indonesian people for always supporting me. I’m sorry I couldn’t give the best result today.”
Fardhan’s silver medal not only reflects his personal progress but also highlights Indonesia’s continued presence in Asia’s junior badminton stage. ***
