RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The VI Nations U17 Futsal Tournament 2026 in Spain will be a crucial test for Indonesia’s U17 squad, which is largely composed of new players.

National coach Hector Souto said the competition will help measure the team’s level against stronger opponents.

“This opportunity is very important for us to gauge our level and see firsthand the differences between our team and the opponents," he told reporters in Jakarta on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 as quoted by Antara.

"Of course, there will be differences,” he added, emphasizing that the tournament, set for June 24–28, marks Indonesia’s first trip to Europe with a squad dominated by debutants.

The team will face tough rivals such as Brazil and Spain, nations with advanced competition systems that nurture player development more effectively.

“We have many tournaments, but we don’t yet have a proper development structure to grow young players,” Hector said.

He noted that several players joined the camp without adequate training backgrounds, making the three-week preparation period critical.

Hector said no specific targets have been set, but the players will be prepared to perform at their best.

“Their performances will show us the team’s true level when competing against strong nations from Europe and the Americas,” he noted.

He also expressed hopes the experience will inspire Indonesian families to see futsal as a viable career path for their children.

A total of 19 young players have been called up for the training camp, which runs until June 19 under Hector and U17 head coach Amril Daulay.

The squad includes:

Goalkeepers: Muhammad Rizky Munawir (West Papua), Azmi Anugrah (West Java), and Ridho Ramadhan (West Java).

Anchors: Niant Moris Very (South Sulawesi), Anak Agung Ngurah Made Kresna (Bali), M. Ibnu Alan (Banten), and Muhammad Revan Aditya (Aceh).

Flanks: Ardio Febrian Dwi P. (Papua), Defon Yossie Andrea Di (Yogyakarta), Muh. Rivail (South Sulawesi), Muhammad Faisal Gumilang (West Java), Unokweng Paskalis Y. Sitokmabin (Papua), Roy Brian Salosa (Southwest Papua), Zahi Dzakwan Putra (South Sulawesi), and Muhamad Dafa Ramadan (West Java).
