RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesian women’s doubles tennis players Aldila Sutjiadi/Janice Tjen bowed out of the French Open 2026 after a hard-fought three-set duel against Marie Bouzkova/Sara Sorribes Tormo in the opening round on Thursday, May 28, 2026.

The Indonesian duo showed resilience early, snatching the first set through a tense tie-break. However, they were unable to replicate that momentum in the decider, eventually falling 7-6(7), 2-6, 4-6 to the Czech-Spanish partnership after two hours and 48 minutes of play, Antara reported.

Aldila and Janice rallied in the opening set, turning a 4-5 deficit into a tie-break victory that gave them the initial edge. Both pairs delivered strong serving performances, each landing 74 percent of their first serves, though the Indonesians were slightly sharper with fewer double faults.

The second set saw Bouzkova and Sorribes adjust their rhythm, leveling the match after breaking away from 2-2 to win four consecutive games. Their consistency on first-serve points proved decisive, as they claimed 59 percent compared to Aldila/Janice’s 43 percent on second-serve points.

In the deciding set, the contest tightened once more. Aldila and Janice fought back from 1-4 down to trail just 4-5, but Bouzkova and Sorribes held firm in the closing stages, sealing victory with three straight points from 18-18.

The defeat marked a tough end for Janice, who was making her Grand Slam clay-court debut, having also lost in the singles draw to American Emma Navarro earlier in the week.

Despite the setback, the match highlighted the fighting spirit of the Indonesian pair, who pushed their opponents to the limit in one of the most demanding stages of the tennis calendar. ***
