RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian tennis player Aldila Sutjiadi moved one step closer to another WTA 500 title after advancing to the women's doubles final of the 2026 Mubadala Citi DC Open, strengthening Indonesia's presence on the international tennis stage ahead of the US Open.

Partnering with New Zealand's Erin Routliffe, the tournament's second seeds defeated China's Qian Tang and Yifan Xu in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, in a one-hour-and-one-minute semifinal on Friday, July 31, 2026, local time, according to WTA records.

Aldila and Routliffe took control from the opening game, breaking their opponents' serve immediately and maintaining relentless pressure with aggressive play and effective returns to wrap up the first set 6-1, Antara reported.

The Indonesian-New Zealand duo carried that momentum into the second set. Although Tang and Xu attempted to respond, Aldila and Routliffe remained consistent, winning five consecutive games to seal another 6-1 victory.

The pair's dominance was reflected in the match statistics. They won 51 of the 83 points contested, or 61.4 percent, and converted six of their eight break-point opportunities.

Aldila and Routliffe also excelled on return, winning 56 percent of points on their opponents' first serve and 62.5 percent on second serves.

The victory keeps Aldila in contention for another title during the North American hard-court swing while maintaining momentum ahead of the 2026 US Open.

The pair booked their semifinal place after defeating American duo Clervie Ngounoue and Anna Smith 6-3, 6-2 in the quarterfinals.

For Aldila, the Washington campaign extends a strong mid-season run after winning her first WTA 500 title alongside Routliffe at the Bad Homburg Open and reaching the mixed doubles quarterfinals at Wimbledon 2026. ***
