RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s national esports team is intensifying preparations for the 2026 Asian Games, with the Indonesian Esports Association (PB ESI) officially announcing the roster of athletes set to compete in Aichi‑Nagoya, Japan.
PB ESI said the roster resulted from a rigorous national selection process that began in February 2026, designed to ensure Indonesia fields players with the strongest technical skills, competitive mindset, and international experience.
“We ensured every selected athlete has strong technical and tactical skills, experience at the highest level, and commitment to represent Indonesia at the 2026 Asian Games,” said national team head coach Richard Permana, as quoted by Antara in Jakarta on Monday, May 18, 2026.
PB ESI explained that the national selection was conducted through three channels: direct appointment, limited selection, and open selection. Evaluation covered current performance, international track record, competitive mentality, commitment, medal potential, and technical requirements for each discipline.
Richard said all athletes will undergo intensive training to reach peak performance ahead of the competition. “This roster reflects the full readiness of Indonesia’s national esports team to compete for the best results against 44 Asian nations,” he said.
Roster announcements were made in stages starting Wednesday, May 13, via PB ESI’s official social media channels. Indonesia confirmed participation in nine of the 11 esports disciplines contested at the 2026 Asian Games.
The nine events include Gran Turismo 7, eFootball, PUBG Mobile, Martial Arts (Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, The King of Fighters XV), Pokémon UNITE, Identity V, Honor of Kings, Naraka: Bladepoint, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB).
