RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian women’s badminton team secured a place in the 2026 Uber Cup semifinals after shuttler Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo defeated Denmark’s Amalie Schulz in straight games, 21-13, 21-18, at the Forum Horsens in Denmark on Friday morning, May 1, 2026, Jakarta time.
Ester’s victory sealed Indonesia’s 3-1 triumph over Denmark in the quarterfinals, ensuring the team’s progression to the next stage, Antara reported.
In the opening game, Ester matched Schulz’s fast pace early on, with the score tied at 6-6. She then shifted gears, stringing together three consecutive points to lead 11-7. From there, Ester steadily built her advantage, closing the first game with four straight points to win 21-13.
The second game saw a sharper contest, with Ester trailing briefly before leveling at 8-8. Maintaining composure against Schulz’s aggressive tempo, she clinched three crucial points to turn the score to 17-16. Her solid play in the closing stages secured a 21-18 win, completing the straight-game victory.
Ester’s success followed earlier wins by team captain Putri Kusuma Wardani, who defeated Line Christophersen, and the doubles pair Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Meilysa Trias Puspitasari, who overcame Amalie Cecilie Kudsk/Mette Werge.
Indonesia’s only setback came when Ni Kadek Dhinda Amartya Pratiwi lost to Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt.
With this result, the Red-and-White squad advances to face South Korea in the semifinals. The Korean team, led by world No. 1 An Se-young, booked their place after defeating Taiwan.
