RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian rising star rider Veda Ega Pratama delivered a standout performance at the 2026 Spanish Grand Prix, setting a new Moto3 top speed record at the Circuito de Jerez with a blistering run of 222.2 km/h on April 26.
Official MotoGP data confirmed Veda as the fastest rider of the race, surpassing Eddie O’Shea and Adrian Cruces, who both reached 221.7 km/h.
The previous Jerez records were held by Daniel Holgado (2024) and Adrian Fernandez (2025) at 221.3 km/h. Riding a Honda NSF250RW, Veda consistently clocked speeds between 219.0 and 222.2 km/h, Antara reported.
Starting from 17th on the grid, the 17-year-old from Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta, impressed with a determined charge through the field. He climbed to 14th on the opening lap, broke into the top 10 by lap two, and battled closely with Malaysian rival Hakim Danish, a familiar competitor from the Red Bull Rookies Cup.
Veda eventually fought his way into the top five but slipped to sixth after losing ground in the final corner before the finish line. He completed the race in 33 minutes 29.064 seconds, securing sixth place overall.
The result lifted him to sixth in the 2026 Moto3 standings with 37 points from three scoring finishes in the first four rounds.
Beyond the record-breaking speed, Veda’s strong showing has boosted his chances in the race for Rookie of the Year, marking him as one of the most promising newcomers in Moto3 and a rising star for Indonesian motorsport on the global stage. ***
