RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The closing ceremony of the 2025 President's Cup was held lively and energetically on Sunday, 12 April 2026 in Jakarta. This event marked the culmination of the celebrations for Indonesia's most prestigious pre-season tournament.

The 2025 President's Cup officially concluded with several positive aspects for the development of Indonesian football. The Chairman of the All-Indonesia Football Association (PSSI), Erick Thohir, stated that the President's Cup had a significant impact on the preparation of the country's football competitions.

He assessed that the pre-season tournament successfully served as a warm-up and improved the quality of clubs, players, and coaches in Indonesia. "The clubs and players continue to contribute. Without the clubs and players, the President's Cup would not have been as successful as it is today," Erick said.

He stated that the high intensity of the matches helped improve player performance, coach quality, and overall club readiness. Therefore, tournaments like the President's Cup are an important part of building a more competitive foundation for Indonesian football.

"The President's Cup is a very positive thing for the preparation of Indonesian football. More competitions are certainly good, and the quality increases. The players are better, the coaches are better, and the clubs are better. The more matches, the better the preparation of Indonesian football," he said.

For the record, the President's Cup was first held in 2015. The 2025 edition will feature, for the first time, foreign clubs, including those from Europe and Asia, such as Port FC (Thailand) and Oxford United (England). Oxford United, in particular, boasts two Indonesian players: Ole Romeny and Marselino Ferdinand.
