RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian national futsal team began their ASEAN Futsal Championship 2026 campaign in emphatic fashion, crushing Brunei Darussalam 7-0 in their Group B opener at Nonthaburi Stadium, Thailand, on Monday, April 6, 2026.
The victory immediately placed Indonesia at the top of the group standings with three points, while Brunei sits at the bottom with none. The other Group B fixture, featuring Australia and Brunei, is scheduled for later in the day, Antara reported.
The match showcased Indonesia’s attacking prowess from the very start. Just three minutes in, Muhammad Sanjaya fired a powerful strike from outside the penalty area, beating Brunei goalkeeper Nazmi Nazreen. Sanjaya doubled the lead only a minute later, capitalizing on a corner situation to slot home from close range.
With a two-goal cushion, Indonesia pressed harder. Goalkeeper Muhammad Albagir even ventured forward to support the attack but was fouled by a Brunei defender before he could attempt a shot. Albagir was later replaced by Angga Ariansyah.
The third goal arrived in the ninth minute when Andarias Kareth finished off a neat exchange between Dewa Rizki and Andres Dwi. Just a minute later, Imam Anshori added the fourth after receiving a pass from Yogi Saputra.
Indonesia continued to pile on the pressure before halftime. Dewa Rizki struck to make it five, and Sanjaya completed his brace to close the first half with a 6-0 scoreline.
In the second half, Kareth netted his second of the night in the 24th minute, sealing the final 7-0 result. Despite sustained pressure, Indonesia could not add further goals, but coach Hector Souto’s side had already made a statement with their dominant performance.
