RRI.CO.ID, Kerinci - A total of 243 runners from 12 countries joined the Kerinci100 trail running championship, held April 4–5, 2026, across Mount Kerinci, Lake Gunung Tujuh, and the swampy highlands of the Kerinci Seblat National Park (TNKS) in Kerinci Regency, Jambi Province.

The committee reported that 56 participants came from abroad, while 187 were from Indonesia. The race featured four categories: 12 kilometers, 30 kilometers, 70 kilometers, and 100 kilometers.

Russian runner Alexey Serebryakov, who competed in the 100-kilometer category, praised the natural beauty of the course. “It’s a beautiful mountain, and I love Sumatra. I live in Bali, but I’m originally from Russia. Yes, I love the people,” he said on Saturday, April 4, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

From Bali, runners Anak Agung and Wida Purnama Dewi joined the 70-kilometer race, saying their main goal was to reach the summit of Mount Kerinci rather than win. They previously participated in similar events on Mount Batur in Bali and Mount Rinjani in West Nusa Tenggara. “I just want to reach the summit of Mount Kerinci. I’m not aiming to win at all,” Wida said.

Event operations director Dian Ersukmara explained that the race's highest point is the summit of Kerinci, Indonesia’s tallest active volcano. He noted that the course’s unique terrain, including swamp areas, requires runners to develop careful strategies.

Final verification showed participants came from Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, France, the Netherlands, Japan, China, the Philippines, Russia, Thailand, South Korea, and Vietnam. ***
