Indonesian Cyclists Prepare for Demanding Aichi–Nagoya 2026 Road Race Course

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s road cycling team is preparing for one of the most demanding courses of the Asian Games Aichi–Nagoya 2026, as six riders take on the Shinshiro Cycling Road Course in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, from September 20–23.

The route features long climbs and technical descents, testing endurance, bike handling, and race tactics.

The women’s squad consists of Ayustina Delia Priatna, Dewika Mulya Sova, and Andini Putri Anastasya, while the men’s team fields Muhammad Syelhan Nurrahmat, Maulana Astnan Al Hayat, and Muhammad Hafizh.

According to the official Asian Games site, the race uses a 23‑kilometer circuit through Tsukude and Horai in Shinshiro. Men will compete over 161 kilometers, while women race 91 kilometers, Antara reported on Sunday, August 30, 2026.

Organizers AINAGOC said the course’s profile -- marked by extended climbs and technical descents -- will challenge athletes’ stamina, bike control, and tactical execution.

The Indonesian Cycling Federation (ICF) has identified road racing as one of four cycling disciplines with medal potential, alongside BMX, mountain bike, and track.

ICF initially targeted four gold medals across cycling events. The government later set a target of one gold medal for cycling, though ICF remains optimistic about exceeding it, citing improvements in athlete performance and rankings.

The competition schedule begins with official training for the individual time trial on September 19, followed by the men’s and women’s time trials on September 20.

Road race training takes place on September 21, with the women’s road race on September 22 and the men’s race on September 23. AINAGOC will enforce traffic restrictions around the Shinshiro Cycling Road Course throughout the training and competition period. ***
