RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is highlighting the strength of its local motorsport workforce as 200 marshals from West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) take on key roles in the upcoming GT World Challenge Asia at Mandalika Pertamina Circuit, underscoring the country’s readiness beyond infrastructure.
The Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) said the involvement of local marshals reflects growing professionalism and competence in Indonesia’s human resources, supporting international-standard racing at Mandalika Pertamina Circuit from May 1-3, 2026.
“These marshals play a vital role in ensuring race operations run safely and smoothly,” MGPA President Director Priandhi Satria said in Lombok Tengah on Wednesday, April 1, as quoted by Antara, noting their responsibilities range from pitlane and track monitoring to incident response and recovery operations.
The 200 marshals, entirely from NTB, cover various strategic roles, including 45 pitlane marshals, 95 track marshals, 10 track maintenance personnel, eight chief marshals, eight pick-up bike marshals, 23 recovery marshals, and reserve staff.
He emphasized that all marshals have undergone recruitment and training processes and have been involved in previous events, equipping them to meet international safety and operational standards.
He added that this initiative is part of a long-term commitment to building a sustainable national motorsport ecosystem, positioning Mandalika not only as a world-class racing venue but also as a hub for developing globally competitive talent.
The full deployment of local marshals is seen as a milestone in strengthening Indonesia’s capacity to host major motorsport events, while also leaving a legacy of improved skills and professionalism in the region. ***
