RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian shuttlers Alwi Farhan and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting booked their places in the men’s singles quarterfinals of the Swiss Open after securing straight-game victories in the round of 16.
Sixth seed Alwi Farhan overcame Singapore’s Jia Heng Jason Teh 21-17, 22-20. He admitted feeling pressure early in the match but managed to regain control. “I felt pressure from the beginning but thankfully I was able to get out of it. I kept trying to find ways in any situation. Whether trailing or leading, nothing is impossible until the umpire declares the game over,” Alwi said on Thursday, March 12, 2026, as quoted on the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) official website.
Alwi noted that Teh’s tall stature and sharp attacking shots posed challenges, but he responded by playing with greater confidence and consistency. He now turns his focus to his next opponent, Jason Gunawan of Hong Kong, whom he described as a tough competitor based on past encounters.

Meanwhile, Anthony Ginting also advanced after defeating China’s Wang Zheng Xing 21-15, 21-16. Facing Wang for the first time, Ginting prepared by studying his opponent’s matches through video analysis. “On the court I tried not to think too much and focused on myself to avoid making unforced errors,” he explained.
Ginting expressed gratitude for his performance and physical condition, emphasizing that previous injuries have not hindered him during the tournament. “From yesterday until today there has been no injury bothering me. Of course, it must still be maintained because if the body is healthy, I can stay focused on the court,” he said.
He added that he treats every match as if it were a final, maintaining focus from the first point to the last. Strategies discussed with coach Indra during intervals, he noted, worked effectively and contributed to his strong performance. ***
