RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian tennis player Aldila Sutjiadi advanced to the semifinals of the doubles event at the WTA 125 Austin tournament after battling through a super tie-break in the quarterfinals on Thursday, March 12, 2026. Partnering with Croatian Petra Marcinko, Aldila defeated the Japanese-Norwegian duo Shuko Aoyama/Ulrikke Eikeri with a final score of 6-7(7), 6-3, 10-5, according to WTA records.
Quoting Antara, the match was tightly contested in the first set, with both pairs trading points to reach a 3-3 tie. Aldila/Marcinko capitalized on their service games, recording one ace and landing 70 percent of their first serves. However, Aoyama/Eikeri proved stronger in returning, winning 83.3 percent of second-serve points and converting three of seven break-point opportunities. They won seven of 11 points in the tie-break to take the first set.
In the second set, Aldila/Marcinko attempted to shift the momentum. Maintaining a 70.4 percent first-serve success rate, the Indonesian-Croatian pair improved their return game to take control of the match. After converting three break-point opportunities, Aldila/Marcinko leveled the match and forced a super tie-break.
Although both pairs recorded one double fault, Aldila/Marcinko held a slight edge with one ace. Their strong serving performance included 100 percent success on first serve returns, allowing them to close the match after one hour and 36 minutes. Next, Aldila/Marcinko will face the winner of the quarterfinal match between top seeds Tereza Mihalikova/Giuliana Olmos and Isabelle Haverlag/Sabrina Santamaria.
After opening the season with strong quarterfinal runs at both the ASB Classic and Hobart International, Aldila struggled to maintain momentum, suffering early exits in her next four tournaments. Following a second-round departure at the Australian Open, the world No. 49 in doubles was eliminated in the first round at the WTA 250 Ostrava, WTA 1000 Qatar, WTA 1000 Dubai, and WTA 500 Merida. ***
