RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian badminton players posted mixed results in international tournaments on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, with Anthony Sinisuka Ginting advancing in Swiss Open qualifying while a new mixed doubles pair progressed to the main draw at the Ruichang China Masters.
At the St. Jakobshalle arena in Basel, Ginting fought back from a slow start to defeat China’s Zhu Xuan Chen 16-21, 22-20, 21-10 in the first round of qualifying for the BWF World Tour Super 300 Swiss Open 2026. The world No. 51 admitted he struggled to find his rhythm early in the match and made several unforced errors.
“At the beginning I couldn’t get into the game immediately and made many mistakes. But, as the match went on, I kept trying to find solutions even when I was far behind,” Ginting said in a statement from the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI), as quoted by Antara.
After losing the first game, Ginting edged a tight second game 22-20 before dominating the decider to secure victory. He will next face Belgium’s Julien Caraggi for a place in the main draw.

Meanwhile in China, Indonesia’s newly paired mixed doubles duo Taufik Aderya and Apriyani Rahayu reached the main draw of the Super 100 Ruichang China Masters after winning two qualifying matches. They defeated fellow Indonesians Daniel Edgar Marvino and Lanny Tria Mayasari 21-19, 21-19 in the qualifying final after earlier beating Australia’s Karsten Spencer Darma/Laudya Chelsea Griselda 21-14, 21-15.
Taufik/Apriyani will face China’s Liao Pin Yi/Zhang Jia Han in the round of 32, while Apriyani and Lanny will also team up in the women’s doubles event, where they are seeded seventh. ***
