RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is set to welcome the world’s top jetski athletes as the Indonesia Jetsport & Boating Association (IJBA) brings back the International Jetsport World Series 2026 to Ancol, Jakarta, this August.

IJBA Chairman Saiful Sutan Aswar said the upcoming championship is designed to be a larger-scale event with greater exposure, showcasing Indonesia’s capability to host the prestigious World Series. “We want to send a message that Indonesia is a worthy venue for the world championship, not just in 2026, but every year,” he emphasized during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.

The competition will feature athletes from multiple countries across six categories, including Pro Runabout GP, Pro Ski GP, Freestyle Show, Women’s Pro Class, and the Team World Challenge. Indonesia last hosted the event in 2019, but organizers believe this year’s edition will deliver stronger momentum through expanded digital promotion both domestically and internationally.

Beyond the sporting spectacle, Aswar highlighted the championship’s role in boosting sport tourism by showcasing Indonesia’s natural and cultural appeal. Local athletes, including world champions Aero Aswar and Aqsa Aswar, are also being prepared to compete. Following the world championship, IJBA plans to hold a national tournament to nurture emerging talent for future international representation.

The event has been warmly welcomed by the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI). Vice Chairman Ismail Ning praised the return of the championship after seven years, noting Indonesia’s strong jetski facilities. He urged local athletes not only to participate but to aim for victory. “Competing should not be just about taking part; it must be about winning,” he said.

Ismail also expressed confidence in Aero and Aqsa Aswar, who have previously secured gold medals at the SEA Games and Asian Games, and will compete again this year. He hopes their achievements will inspire new generations of Indonesian jetsport athletes to strengthen the country’s global standing. ***
