RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is guaranteed representation in the quarterfinals of the All England 2026 mixed doubles after Jafar Hidayatullah and Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu set up a round-of-16 showdown against compatriots Amri Syahnawi and Nita Violina Marwah.

Jafar/Felisha booked their place with a straight-game victory over China’s Gao Jia Xuan/Wu Meng Ying, 24-22, 21-13, in the round of 32 on Wednesday, March 4, at Birmingham’s Utilita Arena. “Our opponents played well, and we lost quite a few points trying to keep up. It’s normal in a first match to have that kind of pressure,” Felisha said in a statement released by the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI), as quoted by Antara.

Despite the win, Jafar admitted their performance was not yet optimal. “We wasted too many points, especially in the first game. Once we took that opener, the second game felt easier; we could control the tempo and anticipate their shots better,” he explained.

Their next opponents, Amri/Nita, had earlier advanced by defeating Germany’s Marvin Seidel/Thuc Phuong Nguyen 21-17, 21-14. Felisha expressed disappointment over the reshuffled draw that forced Indonesian pairs to meet earlier than expected.

“It’s unfortunate the draw changed, because now we have to face our own teammates in the round of 16. With the original draw, both pairs might have progressed further. Tomorrow, one of us will have to lose,” she said.

Head-to-head, Jafar/Felisha hold a slight edge over Amri/Nita, with two wins and one loss. Their most recent encounter came at the Hong Kong Open 2025, where Jafar/Felisha prevailed. ***
