RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s campaign at the 2026 German Open came to an end on Saturday, February 28, 2026, after women’s doubles pair Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti were edged out in a tight three-game semifinal by China’s Li Yi Jing/Wang Yi at the Westenergie Sporthalle, Germany.
The 18-21, 21-8, 19-21 defeat ensured that no Indonesian representatives will feature in Sunday’s finals, Antara reported.
Tiwi/Fadia, made a promising start in the opening game, holding a slim 11-10 lead at the interval. Although they fell behind 12-13, 13-14 and 14-16, four consecutive points swung the momentum back in their favor at 18-16. However, they were unable to maintain that surge and eventually dropped the first game 18-21.
The Indonesian duo responded emphatically in the second game. Racing to an 11-1 advantage, they allowed their opponents just one point before the interval. Playing with greater composure and control, Tiwi/Fadia closed out the game convincingly, 21-8, to force a decider.
In the third game, the Indonesians trailed 0-3 before leveling at 3-3. Li/Wang regained control to lead 11-9 at the interval. Tiwi/Fadia fought back again to draw level at 17-17 and 19-19, but the Chinese pair held their nerve in the closing rallies to seal the match 21-19 after 1 hour and 26 minutes.
Li/Wang could face fellow Chinese pair Bao Li Jing/Luo Xu Min in the final, should they overcome Taiwan’s Hsu Ya Ching/Sung Yu-Hsuan in the other semifinal.
Earlier, Indonesian mixed doubles hope Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja, partnering Singapore’s Hee Yong Kai Terry, also fell short in the semifinals, losing 19-21, 16-21 to Denmark’s Mads Vestergaard/Christine Busch.
With those results, Indonesia’s run at the German Open 2026 concluded at the semifinal stage. ***
