RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Thalita Ramadhani Wiryawan fought a grueling battle at Qingdao Conson Gymnasium, China, but ultimately fell short against Thailand's Busanan Ongbamrungphan on Friday, February 6, 2026, leaving Indonesia trailing 0-1 in the 2026 Badminton Asia Team Championships (BATC) quarterfinals. 

The straight-game defeat, with scores of 22-24 and 18-21, came as Thalita attempted to break a previous losing streak against the Thai star in the opening match of the high-stakes team event in China. 

While the result put the Indonesian squad under immediate pressure, the narrow scorelines reflected a significant improvement in Thalita's ability to challenge one of the region’s most seasoned competitors.

“Alhamdulillah, everything went smoothly even though I didn’t win today. I tried my best to fight Busanan and I just thought, well, I’ll just try to play first because I lost twice before, so now I’m trying again and competing again,” Thalita said, as quoted by Antara.

Despite suffering the defeat, Thalita admitted she was satisfied with her performance on the court because she was able to play much more freely than in her previous matches. However, she also evaluated her playing style, which she felt was still too rushed when facing the patterns displayed by Busanan.

“When trailing, Busanan was able to be more patient while I lacked patience and was in too much of a hurry. Her extensive experience became a lesson for me today as well. In terms of performance I am quite satisfied, but I am unsatisfied with the result,” Thalita expressed. 

This evaluation serves as a key takeaway for the young player as she continues to compete at the international level. ***
