​RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia has reaffirmed its readiness to host the Asian Minifootball Championship 2026, set to take place at Jakabaring Sport City in Palembang, South Sumatra, from April 24 to May 4, 2026.

As part of the preparations, the tournament’s group stage draw was conducted in Jakarta on Wednesday, February 4. The capital was chosen for the draw due to its international accessibility and facilities, while all matches will be staged in Palembang.

Chair of the Organizing Committee, Agung Kurniawan, described Palembang’s selection as a strategic decision, citing the city’s strong sports infrastructure and proven track record in hosting both national and international events.

“Indonesia is ready to welcome participants from 12 countries with warm hospitality,” Agung said in a written statement on Thursday, February 5, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

The draw divided the 12 participating nations into four groups, in a process conducted openly and witnessed by official delegates.

International Minifootball Federation (IMF) President M. Al Dausari praised Indonesia’s preparations, noting that the division of responsibilities between Jakarta and Palembang reflects the country’s national readiness to support the growth of minifootball in Asia.

Chairman of the Indonesian Minifootball Committee (KSMI), Yan Mulia Abidin, emphasized that the championship underscores Indonesia’s capacity to host major international sporting events. He explained that Indonesia was initially designated to host the 2026 Minifootball World Cup but later entrusted with organizing the Asian Championship as well, replacing Vietnam, which was sanctioned.

“Indonesia will host two international events in 2026,” Yan said, adding that confidence in Indonesia’s role was further strengthened after his election as President of the Asian Mini Football Confederation (AMFC) in November 2025.

“KSMI is committed to ensuring the success of both events as a testament to global trust in Indonesia’s role in advancing minifootball in Asia,” he added.
