RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian women’s badminton team secured a 3–1 win over Hong Kong in the Group X stage of the Badminton Asia Team Championships (BATC) 2026, thanks to a decisive performance by doubles pair Rachel Allessya Rose/Febi Setianingrum at Qingdao Conson Gymnasium, China, on Wednesday, February 4.
Rachel/Febi clinched the victory in the fourth match, overcoming Lui Lok Lok/Tsang Hiu Yan in a hard-fought three-game battle, 21–23, 21–18, 21–11.
Rachel admitted the contest was tight, particularly in the second and third games, requiring the Indonesian duo to stay composed.
“Thank God the match ended without injury. We tried not to rush our attacks, focused on building rallies, and stayed mindful of each other’s shots,” she said in a statement released by the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI), as quoted by Antara.
Febi added that communication remains an area for improvement. “Our defense in the first game was not well-organized, so we need to strengthen our communication,” she noted.
Earlier, Indonesia had fallen behind after singles player Thalita Ramadhani Wiryawan lost to Lo Sin Yan Happy 21–23, 19–21. The team leveled the score when doubles pair Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Meilysa Trias Puspitasari defeated Yeung Nga Ting/Yeung Pui Lam 21–16, 21–19.
The momentum continued as singles player Mutiara Ayu Puspitasari secured a 21–11, 22–20 win over Saloni Samirbhai Mehta.
Looking ahead, Indonesia will face Japan in their next match to determine the Group X winner. “The match against Japan will decide the group champion. We must prepare well and start strong. If selected, we’re ready,” Rachel affirmed. ***
