RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Badminton Association Central Board (PP PBSI) has carried out a comprehensive evaluation of its players’ performances at the BWF World Tour Super 300 Thailand Masters 2026, on Monday, February 2, highlighting both encouraging results and areas that still require improvement as part of a long-term development strategy.
The Thailand Masters 2026 marked the second tournament for Indonesia’s newly formed women’s doubles pair, Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, after they were first paired at the Super 500 Indonesia Masters 2026 a week earlier. Their BWF World Tour Super 300 title in Thailand represented an encouraging early result from the policy of reshuffling partnerships in the women’s doubles sector.
“The expectation behind the partner change is, of course, an improvement in performance compared to the previous pairings,” said PP PBSI Head of Coaching and Development Eng Hian in a written statement received in Jakarta, as quoted by Antara.
Despite welcoming the result, Eng Hian stressed that winning a title should not be seen as the final benchmark in long-term athlete development. He noted that many aspects still need improvement for Fadia/Pratiwi to compete consistently at higher-level tournaments.
Meanwhile, in the men’s doubles event, Indonesia recorded a resurgence in form through Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana, who captured the BWF World Tour Super 300 Thailand Masters 2026 title at Nimibutr Stadium, Pathumwan, Thailand, from January 27 to February 1.
The title marked an important milestone for Leo/Bagas after experiencing fluctuating performances over the past few seasons. Thailand Masters 2026 also became their first Super 300 crown, following their earlier success at the Super 500 Korea Open 2024.

“I hope Leo and Bagas’ achievement at the Thailand Masters 2026 can mark the beginning of their return to peak performance,” Eng Hian continued.
According to him, the victory is expected to boost the pair’s confidence as they prepare to face tournaments with higher levels of competition.
At the same time, Eng Hian highlighted physical conditioning as a key area of concern and evaluation for Indonesia’s young men’s doubles pair Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin, who finished as runners-up in two consecutive finals in the 2026 season.
Raymond/Joaquin claimed second place at the Thailand Masters 2026 after also finishing runners-up at the Super 500 Indonesia Masters 2026 the previous week.
“In both finals, their performance did not match the level they showed in the earlier rounds,” Eng Hian added.
He added that the dip in performance in the final matches would become a joint evaluation point for the players, coaches, and support team after they return to Jakarta. ***
