RRI.CO.ID, Bangkok - Indonesian men’s doubles shuttlers Leo Rolly Carnando and Bagas Maulana captured the BWF World Tour Super 300 Thailand Masters 2026 title after defeating compatriots Raymond Indra and Nikolaus Joaquin in the final at Nimibutr Stadium on Sunday, February 1, 2026.

Leo and Bagas sealed the championship with straight-game scores of 21-10 and 21-17.

An emotional Leo celebrated the victory by smashing his racket and later apologized for the spontaneous act, saying it stemmed from a long title drought.

“I’d like to apologize for smashing my racket during the celebration. It’s been a long time since we last won, and I did it spontaneously,” Leo said in a written statement received by RRI on Sunday.

He expressed gratitude for his first title of 2026 in Thailand and thanked coaches and supporters. His previous championship with Bagas came at the Korea Masters in 2024. “We haven’t reached a final in a long time, and we also haven’t won again since the Korea Open 2024. I want to thank all the coaches,” he said.

Leo said the key to defeating their younger opponents was slowing down the tempo, as Raymond and Nikolaus held an advantage in stamina and speed. “The most important thing was not to let our guard down and not to match their pace. They’re younger, so of course they’re faster,” Leo said.

Bagas said the pair were determined to bounce back after a prolonged absence from the podium, a resolve that paid off in Bangkok.

“Our motivation came from our parents, ourselves, and our partners because we’d been away from the podium for a long time. We wanted to rise again, and this feels like a revival. But we can’t be complacent because there are still more tournaments ahead,” Bagas said.

Leo and Bagas’ victory added to Indonesia’s medal haul at the tournament. Earlier, women’s doubles pair Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti defeated China’s seventh seeds Bao Lijing and Li Yijing 15-21, 21-15, and 21-18.

Indonesia also claimed the mixed doubles title, with the young pair Adnan Maulana and Indah Cahya Sari Jamil defeating fellow Indonesians Bobby Setiabudi and Melati Daeva Oktavianti, who are not part of the national training center.

Indonesia had another chance to add to its tally in the men’s singles, with Moh Zaki Ubaidillah set to face host player Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul. (Gusti Panji/Lasti Martina)
