RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s national cycling team closed the Track Asia Cup I 2026 in India with a strong finish, securing two additional gold medals on the final day of competition. This late surge brought Indonesia’s total gold tally to four, underscoring the country’s growing prominence in Asian track cycling.
The Track Asia Cup is a Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Class-2 international track cycling competition, held this year from January 29–31 at the SDAT Cycling Velodrome in Chennai, India.
The event featured 11 countries, 70 international riders, and 50 Indian cyclists competing across disciplines including sprint, team pursuit, keirin, omnium, scratch race, and points race.
It is considered one of Asia’s most important track cycling tournaments, offering valuable ranking points and exposure for athletes on the continental stage.
On the final day, Indonesia’s Men’s Elite Team Pursuit squad: Bernard Van Aert, Dika Dhentaka, Julian Abi Manyu, and Yosandy Utomo, captured gold with a commanding performance.
Their success was mirrored in the Men’s Elite Omnium, where Julian Abi Manyu took gold, and Bernard Benyamin Van Aert secured silver, while teammate Awang Prana Pradipta finished seventh.
Indonesia also celebrated a podium finish in the Women’s Elite Points Race, with Andini Putri Anatasya earning bronze and Hadenova Majid placing sixth. These results indicated that nearly all seven Indonesian riders sent to India earned podium or top-ten finishes.
Earlier in the tournament, Bernard Benyamin Van Aert had already won gold in the Men’s Elite Points Race, while Awang Prana Pradipta claimed gold in the Men’s Elite Scratch Race.
The team’s achievements in India follow a strong start to the year, highlighted by Dika Alif Dhentaka’s silver medal in the keirin at the ASEAN Track Series in Malaysia earlier in January. Together, these performances signal a highly promising 2026 season for Indonesian cycling. ***
