RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Futsal Team started their first match at the AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026 brilliantly. Competing in front of their home supporters at the Indonesia Arena in Jakarta, the Garuda Squad beat South Korea with a score 5-0 victory in the opening match of the tournament on Tuesday night, 27 January 2026.

This match, which started at 7 PM Western Indonesian Time, was officiated by Australian referee Andrew Scott Best. From the moment the opening whistle blew, Indonesia immediately came out pressing and dominated the flow of the match.

Indonesia quickly took the lead in the first half. Mochammad Iqbal Rahmattulah broke the deadlock, followed by a goal from Rio Pangestu Putra in the 11th minute, doubling the lead.

By the time the halftime whistle blew, Indonesia was comfortably leading with a score of 2-0. Entering the second half, the intensity of the home team's attacks did not let up.

Iqbal once again put his name on the scoreboard in the 21st minute, changing the score to 3-0. The relentless pressure from Indonesia overwhelmed South Korea's defense.

Israr Megantara extended the lead to 4-0 with his goal in the 29th minute. Indonesia's goal-fest was finally capped off by Reza Gunawan, who scored the fifth goal in the 37th minute, securing a resounding 5-0 victory for the hosts.

Besides being sharp up front, Indonesia also played very disciplined in defense. This team coached by Hector Souto only committed a total of 2 fouls throughout the match.

Conversely, South Korea, which struggled to develop its game, committed a total of 6 fouls and received two yellow cards, given to Eom Jiyong in the 27th minute and Kang Jukwang in the 38th minute.
