RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia's Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Jakarta Provincial Government have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). It aims at organizing the Wirasena Youth Camp and Indonesia Youth Summit 2026 as part of the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Youth Pledge.

The agreement was signed by Minister of Youth and Sports, Erick Thohir and Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung at the Jakarta City Hall on Monday. The partnership reflects the synergy between the central government and the Jakarta administration in advancing youth development in Indonesia.

Minister Erick Thohir said youth development is one of the President's priority agendas. According to him, the Wirasena Youth Camp and Indonesia Youth Summit are not merely part of the centennial celebration of the Youth Pledge but also serve as an initiative to build the character, leadership, and competitiveness of Indonesia's younger generation.

"Today, we are laying the foundation for Indonesia's young generation. This is not only about commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Youth Pledge, but also about building the character, mindset, and competitiveness of our youth for the next 100 years. Indonesia's future is in their hands," Erick said in a statement released by the Ministry of Youth and Sports on Monday, July 13, 2026.

He added that the ministry has established communication with nine countries—the United States, China, Singapore, Australia, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, Japan, and South Korea—as part of its benchmarking efforts. The ministry has also coordinated with the United Nations (UN) to ensure that Indonesia's youth capacity development aligns with global standards.

Meanwhile, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the provincial government is fully committed to supporting the implementation of both programs. He noted that the initiatives are in line with the Jakarta administration's efforts to improve the quality of young people through education, scholarships, and capacity-building programs.

The Wirasena Youth Camp is scheduled to take place from October 21 to 31, 2026, at the Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM) cultural center and several supporting venues across Jakarta, involving around 5,000 participants from all 38 provinces. Meanwhile, the Indonesia Youth Summit 2026 will bring together 168 selected young people from across the country as a platform to exchange ideas, foster innovation, and strengthen collaboration in commemoration of the Youth Pledge.
