Indonesia Wins Three Gold Medals at ASEAN Para Games Thailand

RRI.CO.ID, Nakhon Ratchasima - Indonesian women’s para badminton athlete Leani Ratri Oktila won three gold medals at the 2025 ASEAN Para Games (APG) held in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, on Sunday, 25 January 2026. Leani secured the gold medals in the mixed doubles SL3 - SU5, women’s doubles SL4, and women’s doubles SL3–SU5 events at the Indoor Stadium SPADT Convention Center 80th Birthday Anniversary Stadium.
Leani won the gold medal in the mixed doubles SL3-SU5 event while partnering with Hikmat Ramdani. The other two gold medals were obtained in the women’s doubles SL4 and women’s doubles SL3-SU5 events together with Khalimatus Sadiyah.
After the match, Leani delivered her statement to the media at the competition venue. “Alhamdulillah, three gold medals at the APG Thailand,” Leani Ratri Oktila stated.
The 2025 ASEAN Para Games Thailand was recorded as the sixth multi-event competition that Leani has participated in throughout her career. She conveyed information regarding her preparation leading up to the competition.
She also added, “Up until today’s match, I prepared well, so it can be said that there were no significant obstacles.” Leani also shared information regarding her role as an athlete and a mother during the championship, mentioning support from her family.
“Now that I am a mother, my motivation is even higher, especially hearing support from my child,” said the athlete born on 6 May 1991. She stated that her children are now able to understand her activities as an athlete.
Regarding the team’s condition, Leani conveyed her views on the composition of Indonesian para badminton athletes. She mentioned the presence of backup athletes in several classes.
“In my class, there are already backups, there are already athletes from the new generation,” said Leani. She also stated, “Now there are many All Indonesian Finals.”
On the same occasion, Leani conveyed her personal future targets as well as a message to young athletes. The statement was delivered after the match concluded.
“I want to be able to compete again at the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympics,” Leani stated. She added,“My message to new athletes is to stay motivated and not give up easily.”
